Here you find a couple of functions to get used to the Xpert-Timer..

Xpert-Timer includes a lot of context menus you can open when you click with your right mouse button.

The Installation

Please note, that we advise to use an ACCESS database for up to 3 users. A SQL database is of course better in regards of security and speed and should definetely be used with more than 3 users. Microsoft offers a free SQL Server for download. If you install an SQL Server, you'll need a company server. The exact installation process is described here.


The timebar

Let's start with the timebar. Please click here for a complete description. If you want to hide the timebar, just right click on it and choose "Timebar" to hide it. If you want to show it again, click on the Xpert-Timer logo in the systray or hit Win+F8.

The project manager

The project manager is your main hub. Here all your projects are displayed. Exact details you'll find here.

If you right click on the grey area besides the word "project name", you can show or hide selected columns.

Take your time to explore the project manager. If you run your mouse over the buttons, you'll get information about the functions.

If you hit Win+Space, you can search for projects. If you hit Ctrl+N, you can add a new project easily. Click here for more hotkeys.

If you want to work in a team, you have to assign projects to certain users. Go to 'Edit'-> 'Assign projects'. Please note, that you can only do that if you own the rights. Your admin will grant you the right in the Configuration -> Users.

Reporting

In the beginning you should know, that times in angle brackets <> are not chargeable times. They will not be added to the total daily sum. A manual addendum is marked with an asterisk. (*). You can turn this marks off in the configuration of the reporting dialog.
