Installation

Generally Xpert-Timer can connect to any database through ADO, that has a OLEDB or ODBC driver. Unfortunately the free version of the MySQL ODBC driver is faulty (especially with floating point fields). If you are using a driver (OLEDB or ODBC, but no ADO.NET), you can tell us and we are happy to try to conntect Xpert-Timer with it. Please don't use the MySQL server if you want to use the synchronization module. It does not work with the synchronization!

Installation of MySQL

You need following Setup Files:

•	mysql-essential-5.1.32-win32.msi. (Basic version of MySQL-Servers 5.1 \| ca. 36MB). http://dev.mysql.com/downloads/mysql/5.1.html

•	mysql-connector-odbc-3.51.27-win32.msi. (ODBC-driver Version 3.51 \| ca. 4MB) http://dev.mysql.com/downloads/#connector-odbc

•	mysql-connector-odbc-5.1.5-win32.msi. (ODBC-driver Version 5.1 \| ca. 4MB) http://dev.mysql.com/downloads/#connector-odbc

•	mysql-gui-tools-5.0-r17-win32.msi. (extra Tools e.g. for Backupx usw. \| ca.17MB) http://dev.mysql.com/downloads/gui-tools/5.0.html

Installation of Xpert-Timer

Xpert-Timer-Server Setup

You need following files:

http://download.xpertdesign.de/XTInstSQLServerEN.exe. (SQL-Server-Setup of Xpert-Timer | ca. 13MB).

Run the setup:

Step 1: Start the setup

Step 2: Click Next, until you get asked to download the database drivers for MySQL. Check the box, if you haven't downloaded them yet.

Step 3: Click Next and then check the box to Create a new Xpert-Timer database for MySQL Server.

Step 4: Click next and the click on Install.

Step 5: The files are now being downloaded.

After the download, the administration program XTAdmin will start automatically to setup the database connection:

Step 6: Enter the connection data of you MySQL Server and hit Connect. You can either enter your server name or its' IP-address.

Step 6: Click on "Create database" and answer the security question with "Yes".

Step 7: The database is now being created.

Step 8: Double-check the connection data to your database with XTAdmin. The current connection and the server is now shown in the Database-Info field at the bottom.

Xpert-Timer Client Setup

You need following files:

http://download.xpertdesign.de/XTInstDE.exe.

Run the setup:

Step 1: Make sure you have the correct ODBC drivers installed.Choose the correct file here: http://dev.mysql.com/downloads/connector/odbc/5.1.html In the Xpert-Timer setup there'll be an option to download the files, too.

Step 2: Run the setup

Step 3: Click on Continue until you get to the end and you are asked to run Xpert-Timer when the setup is finished. Check the box, that you want to run Xpert-Timer.

Step 4: Xpert-Timer will now ask you, what database connection you want to establish. Choose MySQL database.

Step 5: Enter all necessary connection data and click on "Connect".

Step 6: Hit OK and save the connection.

Now you are ready to go.
